Lazy Saturday

My Dad went back to Pennsylvania yesterday. I had so much fun while he was here. I really wish I lived closer to my family. Some highlights of the visit were:

+ Dinner at Palisades
+ Hardwicks Hardware
+ Dog Park with Annie
+ Climbing at REI
+ French Bakery
+ Elliot Bay Books
+ Magic Mouse Toys
+ Chateau Ste. Michelle
+ Barking Frog lunch
+ Oddfellows breakfast
+ last dinner at Metro Grill
+ Boathouse Cafe cheese
+ wine, wine and more wine
+ Dad meeting all my pets and of course Philip
+ hanging out with my dad in Seattle

I have never eaten so much food in one week in my entire life. To go back to eating my Kashi cereal and veggie salads will be a little hard. My Dad really spoiled me this week with some of the best meals. It was good to get out and see more Seattle. I really need to explore more often, it is so much fun to do new things here.

cross it off the list

I can't believe today is only Tuesday. Tonight was another great night out with my Dad. We went to Dahlia's Lounge downtown. I had unbelievability good salmon and the best pear tart ever. My Dad's trip to Seattle has gone by so quickly. I can't believe he will be leaving in a few days. I wish that Pennsylvania and Washington were closer. I miss my family more and more.

The top picture is of a print that Bethany sent me a few weeks ago. (Bethany you're the best!) I wish I could have a pet grey fox to read books to at night. I am so proud that Philip and I finally got around to hanging pictures in this apartment, it really makes it feel about like home.

The cat pin is a gift my Dad gave me tonight at dinner, it is adorable and looks like my cats! I am officially a crazy cat lady but I wouldn't be happy any other way.

The Pinnacle

I climbed the Pinnacle at the REI store yesterday and it was incredible. It is the highest that I've climbed so far. The Pinnacle is 65 freaking feet tall. I didn't think I was going to make it to the top but everyone kept telling me to keep going up. My leg started shaking and my hands were so slick it was hard to hold onto the wall.

I had such a wonderful weekend with my Dad. We went to so many places and ate so much food. I would write in more detail but I am exhausted. Tomorrow is my first day back at work, after 10 days off, so I better get some rest. I wish this vacation didn't have to end.

Oh good golly

I started my vegetable garden seeds yesterday. They have been basking in the glow of a UV light all day today. I can't wait for them to sprout.

I got The Gentle Art of Domesticity at the library yesterday. It has the most beautiful photos and information on just about everything I love from baking to gardening. I'm just a few pages in but I'm enjoying it so far.

My Dad is in Seattle. I picked him up at the airport today. We're meeting in a few hours to have dinner at the Boat Street Cafe.

Good TV night

Can you find all three cats in the first photo?

The last few days of vacation have been great. A lot of sleeping in and watching Tv followed by garden shopping and goodwill trips. Tomorrow is my last offical vaction day and my dad is coming to town!! I'm pretty excited to say the least. Tomorrow I have plans to finish a pile of sewing and spend some quality time with a few cook books.

We're back from Portland and it was a great trip. We went book shopping at Powell's, got delicious pizza at Hot Lips and visited Multnomah Falls on the way back. I think my interview even went well at Pacific University. I really liked the school and hope they accept me. All in all a good time. Although its good to be home too.

shoes and sunset

Posted by Picasa

I completely forgot to post a photo yesterday so today I took two. I bought some new shoes today. The first pair is from Goodwill with a total cost of $4 and the other pair is from Target. Just a new pair of flats to wear to work since my other ones are falling apart. I took a second picture of sunset magazine because it is the coolest. I have been obsessively buying all the back issues at Goodwill. I have about a dozen to look through when I get the time.

Today Philip and I took our rock climbing class and it was great. I can't wait to go back and climb some more. I need to work on my noodle arms and get into shape. We have a 2 week free membership to the climbing gym to practice. I really had so much fun and next time I think it will be even better since we get right to the climbing. Philip and I even made it to the top a couple of times which is kind of scary high. This is what the gym looks like inside, its called Vertical World.

Tomorrow we leave for Portland. I can't wait to visit Powells and Voodoo donuts again.

Stencils!

I just got this book the other day. It contains 24 stencils that are all awesome. I love Lotta Jansdotter's simple designs. I'm going to stencil some skirts this weekend.

I'm finally starting to feel better. I can't wait to be over this cold. Tomorrow is my last day of work before I have an entire week off. I can't wait to spend a few days being lazy and sewing.

squirrel shaker

This has to be the cutest salt and pepper shaker ever. I found it at Goodwill a few weeks ago.

I stayed home from work today and basically did nothing all day. I'm starting to feel a little better. Staying in and sleeping most of the day away was a good choice. I hope tomorrow isn't too bad. I really want to be feeling better for this weekend. I can't wait to take the rock climbing class and go to Portland.

Colbert and pizza makes a great night. I'm still feeling a bit under the weather. I came home and slept for 3 hours. I feel so tired and achy.

Philip bought me this beautiful shirt for Valentine's Day. I absolutely love it.

I'm not feeling great today. I guess I finally caught a cold from the children. I bought a ton of tea after work and am drinking a huge glass of orange juice and sprite. I really hope I'm feeling better tomorrow.

First photo

I started a life list tonight. I'm up to #22 already. My number 4 was to take a daily photo and blog it. I took a photo of our new couch. I bought it at Goodwill last weekend after Annie put a giant hole in our old couch. The new couch is pretty comfortable and both ends are adjustable which is cool. We had Michael and Aja over last night to watch movies and having two couches was pretty great.
