I love these shoes from Pink Studio. I'm not sure if I could chase after kids in them without twisting my ankle but I would like to try. I'm not sure where else I would wear them considering my weekend plans usually include trips to Target or Wendy's. Maybe I need to start going to fancier places.

I spent my day at work preparing things for next week which is all about the post office at school. I made some mail boxes out of construction paper and cardboard boxes. I'm not sure how impressed the kids will be but I had a good time making them.

The weekend is here and I am going to try to finally get over the last leg of the neverending cold and feel better. Philip started Friday night off with a bang by eating chinese food and taking a 6pm nap. I think this weekend is getting off on the right foot.

cupcake cake, kinda

cupcake cake, kinda, originally uploaded by cottoncupcakes.

I'm starting to feel a little better. My cold seems to be going away slowly. I hope tomorrow I start to feel normal again. Until then the TV marathon continues tonight with Simpsons and battlestar. Last night Philip and I watched Taken and it was really good. I couldn't help but bite some fingernails.

Here is a photo of the cupcake cake Lucia and I attempted to bake last weekend. We didn't have enough batter and the cake turned out looking a little like a pile of poo. It tasted really good though and after a bottle of wine a poo shaped cake made us laugh pretty hard.

oh the sickness

Annie, originally uploaded by cottoncupcakes.

I have spent the last few days feeling like crap. I caught a cold sometime last week and I haven't been able to shake it yet. My head feels like someone filled it with cement. I'm hoping I start to come around tomorrow and remember what its like to have energy and use your nose for breathing.

Philip and I have been watching a great deal of TV and taking it easy sipping on sprite zero. I got my plane ticket today for my trip home in March. I'm excited already.

We took Annie and the cats to get updated on all their shots this morning. We have such a crazy family of animals. Annie didn't seem to mind the shots as long as the dog cookies were being given.

cats!

cats!, originally uploaded by cottoncupcakes.

Many many things have happened since my last post in August. I went home to visit Pittsburgh and Lewistown. I had such a good time on my trip. The first few days were spent hanging out with Bethany doing the usual stuff like Mexican food for breakfast and shopping at Target. I ate so much junk food that week. We stopped at my favorite diner from college Dean's Dinner and the local diner in Lewistown, so much pie!

The weather was so warm and sunny, I loved every minute of it. I got to visit with my sister and spend some time hanging out with Ben. He has grown so much since April.

Overall it was a great trip. I really do miss living in Pennsylvania.

Other than my trip the only other news is Philip and I are moving to a bigger place at the end of the week. We leased a new apartment and we get to move in on Friday. I am so excited to be moving into a larger apartment. We have been slowly packing but we still have a lot to do in the next few days.

my wiggy

my wiggy, originally uploaded by cottoncupcakes.

My pet guinea pig Hedwig "Wiggy" Scanlon died yesterday. She was the first pet I got when I lived on my own. I went to get her in November 2004 from the Greensburg Pet Smart. I was super excited about having a pet again after a year in the pet-less dorms. My entire life we've always had a least 2 pets living with us, usually a cat or dog. Wiggy was my first guinea pig. She lived with me in several apartments and traveled to school with me each year.

When I decided to move to Seattle I looked into bringing Wiggy on the plane and made sure I could take her in the cabin. The people at security told me it was the first guinea pig they had seen travel. She traveled 3000 miles with me and in the first few months was the only one I knew here.

I am going to miss her so much. Feeding her carrots and yogurt drops and petting her nose. I'm glad I was able to have her for so long. I hope she wasn't in any pain yesterday before I got her to the vet. : (

Pets really are the best. I can't imagine not having them. I'm hoping I can find a good home for all of Wiggy's supplies so someone else can get a guinea pig like Wig.

Feels like fall

pumpkin spice bundt cake, originally uploaded by cottoncupcakes.

The weather in Seattle right now reminds me of the fall season. Its been in the 60's and windy the last couple of days. So I was inspired to make a pumpkin spice bundt cake. It turned out pretty good considering I use a toy oven to bake.

I've been getting ready for my trip home in 3 days and I'm getting really excited. I can't wait to see everyone and enjoy the 80 degree weather. It is going to be so much fun.

Over the weekend Philip and I took the ferry over to Vashon Island. It was a rainy day but we walked down to the water and went to lunch at small restaurant called the Monkey Tree.

Testing out the flickr blog feature

you rule card, originally uploaded by cottoncupcakes.

So I finally got around to uploading more photos to my flickr account and and I set up the blog feature.

I made this card yesterday. I really like how it turned out and working with paper was fun.

My foot is asleep right now and my cat Lucy is trying to rub up against it. Ahh.
